"Since chilhood, I have had a continuing love affair with nature. It has been important to me to surround myself intimately with it's beauty and mysticism. True happiness is mine when I am spreading the joy of painting. It is a form of communication that is very satisfying to me.

In about 1982 or 1983 I introduced Arturo Tello to Ray Strong. We painted together off and on. The two of them decided to form the Oak Group. I was a part of it from the beginning. We have certainly created an awareness of the threats to our cherished landscapes. By painting for The Nature Conservancy and other environmental groups, we have brought a glimpse of the painter's view of their lands to everyone. In the process, warm and lasting friendships have grown within our group."
