As I stand carefully observing the landscape while painting, usually for several hours at a stretch, I feel at one with the plants, birds and animals that are there. The place comes in through all my senses and flows out through my hand onto the canvas.
Making paintings as records means creating landscape portraits. As an artist I have always craved the stimulus of direct observation, so painting for Oak exhibitions has been a perfect match for my painting temperament.
